Capability - Solution Architect / Strategy The following is intended to give the recipient reviewing my details an understanding of the level of engagement and scope of work I would undertake based on my skills and experience. To provide an end to end solution or a specific area of focus from a solution architecture and strategic perspective and application as shown by the Landscape. The organisations identified are actual companies I have engaged with providing architectural services as an independent contractor or full time consultant through independent IT service providers. The following points map my skills and experience for 5 hypothetical selection criteria based on a solution architect (SA) role which is typical for a large corporate environment.
Response - All of the work I have done either consulting and or permanent engagements as solution architect in effect require change or business transformation to happen to effectively deliver the end objective. This was evident in a number of engagements where either change of strategy / approach was required or adoption of particular method or use of technologies. A number of occurrences that relate to this include change in information / data migration approach to future target state (ASIC), consolidation of EDRMS technologies (Sydney Water), Solution design, concept (IAG)
Response - All of the organisations / projects I have worked on were large corporate / government organisations that utilized a broad range of technologies from current leading edge vendors ie IBM. Oracle, HP, Microsoft (Middleware etc) which required to be integrated with existing business systems. From an architecture perspective, solutions and implementation was always in accordance with architecture framework. Specific example of a particularly complex project includes definition of architectural framework to implement solution design and delivery for high volume transactional claims system at IAG which required meshing technologies together in line with architectural best practice and SOA designs. Also development and application integration practices using Agile and Waterfall approaches.
Response - Have utilized a number of architectural frameworks i.e. Zachman & TOGAF. I am TOGAF certified and have also been focused specifically on information / data centric solutions across the web, document management, transactional and data domains. This has mainly been in relation to specific solutions using vendor COTS middleware and integration using SOA design / principles. Focus on recent project (IAG) related to SOA web services design and integration with primary future state solution building blocks. Have also focused on full information life cycle approach from initial high value to low overhead, archival & retention management practices.
Response - I have over 15 years’ experience working in technology transformation domain in a solution / architectural role. The last 8 years which has been in a consultancy role which has given me exposure across a number of business sectors covering private and government enterprise. I have government security clearance to “Classified” and have worked with other government identities, ASIC, Sydney Water as well as private organisation Perceptive Software, IAG etc. The previous 9 years I worked with French telecommunications provider Alcatel as Solutions Architect rolling out their applications and information systems across the APAC region and worked on various technology transformation projects across Asia and Europe.
Response - My consulting experience gives me an ability to quickly interpret and provide effective solutions relevant to the client or vendors being used as part of the solution |
